Description: |
Students will spend the majority of the day traveling and working on various small farms in the Willamette Valley. Informal case discussions would occur while traveling between calls. Students will gain extensive hands-on experience with goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, dogs, and cats involving but not limited to surgery, injections, handling techniques, and physical exams. Students will become proficient in developing differential diagnoses, treatment plans, and performing and interpreting labs. of Externship: |
To enhance student appreciation for using evidence-based decision making while providing preventative medicine in small ruminant herd health. To become proficient in developing differential diagnoses/treatment plans, and communicating these findings to clients. Students will also learn farm management and husbandry techniques to help prevent common small ruminant problems. |
